Good deal on Spectrum book

I was looking for a gift and saw The History of the ZX Spectrum. It was on a clearance sale which was a nice surprise. I managed to snag it for a decent price. Shipping to the US took about 10 days, which is what I expected from a UK store. For the quality of the book, I felt it was a pretty good value overall.

Consistent quality, reliable shipping

This was my third order from Fusion Retro Books, this time I got The History of the Sega Mega Drive. As usual, the book arrived well-packaged and in perfect condition. I've always appreciated their consistent quality in both product and delivery. My first order was The History of the NES a couple years ago, and since then, they've always been reliable. It took about 9 days to get here in Texas, which is pretty standard for them. I like knowing what to expect when I order.

Does anyone know if their books are typically hardback or paperback? I prefer hardcovers.

C Carol 1 week ago
Most of their main 'History of' series are beautiful hardbacks. They do offer softback versions sometimes, or digital, but the flagship books are usually hardcover.

Definitely hardback for the big ones like the C64 or Spectrum histories. They're built to last, which is awesome.

What's the return policy like if I get a book and it's not quite what I expected? Or if it arrives damaged?

R Robert P. 1 month ago
I had to return a book once because it had a slight printing error. It was pretty straightforward. Just email them, they're generally responsive and guide you through the process.

Returns are usually fine, especially if it's damaged. Keep the packaging, and definitely reach out to them first. Haven't had to do it myself, but heard good things.

Hey, I'm trying to decide between Fusion Retro Books and Bitmap Books for a gift. Has anyone bought from both? How do they compare quality-wise?

G Grace N. 2 weeks ago
I've got a few from both. Fusion's stuff is really good, especially their annuals. Bitmap's production quality is maybe a touch higher, but Fusion's content, especially for specific retro computers, often feels more in-depth. Depends what you're looking for.

Yeah, I think Fusion excels at really niche deep dives into specific systems or developers. Bitmap is great too, more general appeal sometimes. You won't be disappointed with Fusion's hardbacks though, they're solid.

I saw something about a newsletter sign-up offer. Is that still active and how much is the discount usually?

R Robert Carter 1 week ago
I think it's still active, yeah. When I signed up last year, it was 10% off my first order. They send some cool emails too, with new releases and other offers.

B Brandon Harris 1 week ago
It was 10% for me too! Definitely worth it if you're planning a purchase. Just pop your email in on their site.

I'm thinking of getting the 'History of the NES' and 'History of the SNES' books. Is there a bundle deal for those or do I have to buy them separately?

J Jeff Wright 3 weeks ago
They often have series discounts or multi-buy offers, especially for related books like those. Check the product page or their 'bundles' section, I remember seeing similar deals.

L Linda D. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, pretty sure they do. I got the Sega ones together and there was a slight discount automatically applied at checkout, I think it was part of a bundle.
